‘The Colours of Marriage’ - This collection is inspired by the colours chosen for traditional Nigerian marriage ceremonies. During most formal marriages the bride wears one white dress, however in 99% of West African marriages the bride and groom both change into custom made outfits at the reception. These outfits are co-ordinating opulently embroidered pieces of a particular textile or colour. The colours are vibrant and often the same textile that the families would be asked to wear too.
The Temple Pillar clutch shows the many eclectic African textiles available. As a printed or waxed cottons are prefect for making a statement or enhancing an outfit. Each print is matched with a co-ordinating leather or suede used as ‘pillar columns‘, inspired by the lavish mansions of Banana Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
