Solomon Appollo

Everyone had a personal seamstress, it was a carnival of all sorts!
These memories have stayed with me and have had a major influence on my design aesthetic.I had a great education, and could have naturally chosen any number of professions, but I always enjoyed art and design. After experimenting as a graphic designer, I returned to university to study fashion accessories at the well known Cordwainer's College and the London College of Fashion. The course and degree were extremely practical, which in hindsight I am grateful for.
My brand "Solomon Appollo" has been in the family for nearly 2 decades, once owned by my brother representing an urban streetwear label. In 2009, I re-invented it as a luxury handbag and accessories brand. A new logo, tag line and vision followed. I then spent the next 2 years on design development, travelling around Europe and establishing relationships with suppliers.I am constantly inspired by the multicultural society in which I live. It is eclectic and full of creativity. Within London I have unlimited resources in the many museums and curations depicting generations of artisans and their legacies.
I would describe my aesthetic as "Afropean". European luxury and quality in design with and African twist. I always find a way to combine the two cultures by adding African textiles such as Ankara, Wax or Kente as a vibrant outer print or an unexpected choice for a lining fabric.
By being a part of Boticca, I have the opportunity to showcase my work on an international platform, which is great because Solomon Appollo is an international brand.
