Inspiration
The ISABELLA series is one of my favorites because each leather piece was lovingly hand painted in Japan. The colours were inspired by the lush, pretty hues of the Caribbean islands. The subtle sparkly sheen is referenced by the sparkle under the sun during the mid-day on the beaches of St.Lucia and St.Thomas. Based on the colours, I endeavored to create a painting like effect, on each bag, you can see the natural brush strokes and flaws of the hand painting, this creates a lovely artisanal essence, I hope. On a family trip to St.Lucia, I spent so much time in the water, I nearly missed the last call back to the ship and narrowly missed causing a great deal of trouble. This is a genuinely sweet memory of that day.
