This scarf is from a series that explores the super-sweet polka dot from a weaver’s perspective. Notice the shifting threads within the dark dots and polka-Os. These subtle elements celebrate the techniques I use when making my handwoven pieces: the shifting qualities of a painted warp and the characteristic look of ikat cloth.
I personally execute all design and making processes in my Richmond, VA studio: this scarf has been warp-painted, woven, and dyed by hand and is a one-of-a-kind piece. It is woven with medium-weight matte cotton (warp) and a fine-weight wool/angora blend (weft) to create a comfortably weighted and warm piece without being bulky. This scarf is silky and soft with excellent drape in a luxuriously large and versatile size. Care is simple: wash by hand in a delicate detergent, lay out immediately after washing, and dry flat. Do not wring.
