This collection is based on Karens travels through Africa, these particular earrings are based on the forms of the Massai Ltirrangui earrings, that young brides wear on their wedding day.
The chiselled pattern on the mokume has been inspired by African textiles Karen sourced.
These statement earrings are a unique one of a kind pair, that couldn't be replicated even if I wanted to. That is the nature of the traditional Japanese technique of mokume gane. Which fuses layers of metal together, in this case eight layers of silver and guilding metal, which have been hand worked into to create this stunning aesthetic. The mokume has then been treated to darken and colour the metal to enhance the surface detail, and then attached with a beautifully hand crafted silver hoop earring top.
Colours and pattern may vary slightly as is the nature of the technique.
Long statement earrings.
16cm long by 3.5cm at widest.
