Growing up in a converted Victorian Chapel I was surrounded by a mixture of modern and historical. My father's rural workshop as a master cabinet maker was another playground and the antiques, old tools and pieces he makes filled both buildings. After finishing my degree in 3D Design at Manchester School of Art I have returned to my family home to set up my own studio in the section that once held the Sunday school.
I now travel between city and country, old and new with trips to ancient cities like Pompeii and the collections of museums having strong influence on me. Fossilisation, the structure of minerals and the artefacts of ancient civilisations are continuing themes in my work and I explore aspects of these with experimental processes to create contemporary wearable pieces that blur the line between fashion, sculpture and jewellery.
