New York City, United States
My name is Jack Germain and I founded my namesake company in 2009 after my handmade bags were discovered on the streets of New York by the New York Times style blog. After realizing that I couldn't keep up with the demand by hand making the bags out of my Lower East Side apartment, I found a factory in New York's Flatiron District and have been producing locally there ever since.
All Jack Germain bags are made from Italian leather and have Italian hardware.
My minimalist style handbags are given some edge with repeat hardware, spikes and studs and are the perfect juxtaposition of feminine and masculine style. As someone who rarely changes her handbag, my goal is to make sure that each bag will look just as great with a t-shirt and jeans as it does with a dress going out.
I studied textile design at University of Wisconsin, where I originally fell in love with repeat patterns and graphic shapes. I then went on to get a degree in accessories design from F.I.T. Since the launch of my brand, Jack Germain has been featured in People Style Watch, In Style, People, Zink, Blackbook, Time Out and New York Magazine
