Imogen Belfield

Belfield has a Fine Art background, with a passion for sculpture, drawing inspiration from artists such as Eduardo Paolozzi and Anish Kapoor.As a jewellery graduate from the Sir John Cass School of Art, London, she won New Designer of the Year One Year On in 2010. Her work has also won awards from the British Jewellery Association and The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.Exhibitions include London Jewellery week and London and Paris Fashion Weeks with the prestigious Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Belfield most recently won the Bright Young Gem award at International Jewellery London, as selected by Hilary Alexander and Vivienne Becker. She honed her craft whilst completing an internship with renowned jeweller Shaun Leane during which she was given the opportunity to help with exciting projects, such as catwalk pieces for collaborations with Leane and Alexander McQueen.Inspired by her surroundings, her experimentalist jewellery takes influence from both architecture and nature combined - from the tallest building to the shyest flower. Through specialized hand carving techniques she creates pieces in the textured metals of plated bronze, silver and gold with rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces taking on an organic twist.The strong geometric theme present in Belfield's jewellery is her direct response to London’s city- scape, transforming skyscrapers into miniature sculptural forms that dramatically adorn the body.
