This piece is from from my J collection which takes it inspiration from a wide collection of images I have drawn and photos I have collected from my travels over the years; of overlapping shapes, from patterns in bales of hay to the spiky covering on a horse chestnut.
Intrinsic in my interests is a fascination with opposites which I wanted to include in this piece.
The J collection focuses around a nest or cluster of silver, where tactile pieces of silver have been formed into a quirky three-dimensional shape.
A contemporary row of J collection ‘nests' has been fused by hand to create a striking and unique necklace.
Two strands of ball chains on each side support the necklace, offering an interesting effect. The chain itself, in some ways looks androgynous with its relationship to military identity tags, yet the chain catches the light creating a beautiful glittering, feminine effect. My fascination with opposites flows throughout this piece.
