Inspiration
I was taking time out one day in my studio. My son was with me and we wanted to play our favourite game, Jacks, but we didn’t have the standard playing pieces with us so we started playing with some parts of jewellery from my O collection. It occurred to me that maybe my love of this game comes from a fascination with random patterns - I have sketchbooks full of overlapping shapes, from corals to fallen tree roots!
I decided to explore this further and thus the playfulness of my family's favourite game led to a collection of shapes that I call ‘silver nests’. They embody the beautiful shapes made by the game of jacks and link with the entwined nature of roots, corals and branches. They also keep something that is very important to me - to create wonderful tactile jewellery.
Description
A single nest of silver sits simply and elegantly as a brooch. It is just the right size to adorn a jacket lapel, coat or as a classic statement piece for daytime or evening wear.
The overlapping design and the bobbly texture of the silver catch the light beautifully making it a great piece for a statement brooch.
This brooch is made in my studio in the UK and has a simple pin fastening at the back.
