Inspiration
Gina's debut jewellery collection crystalized from a fascination with body modification practices and Live Art, culminating in the creation of jewellery from broken glass fragments. While technically wearable, her glass shard jewellery is not for the faint-hearted, so she sought to alchemise a luxurious collection in precious metal inspired by this conceptual work. She casts shards of glass directly into recycled Sterling Silver, highlighting the contrasts between delicacy and roughness inherent in the original broken panes. The fashion-forward collection is plated in either White Rhodium or Rose Gold. The stones are fair-trade Royal Kings Plain Sapphires®, a rare rich blue sapphire mined in the Australian state of New South Wales. The pavé-set stones follow the fault lines in the broken glass and are set in a stylized way which adds to the pieces' edgy yet sophisticated allure. All of the box chains are 9ct White Gold. Each piece is handmade in Gina's workshop in Hatton Garden, London.
Description
Striking on both men and women, the smallest and lightest of the three pendants comes on the shortest and thinnest length chain. Although seemingly delicate, the chain is deceptively strong as the Gold links fit so closely together and are then twisted for reinforcement. The pendant's shape could be reminiscent of a claw, tooth, or other organic form, but when inspected more closely, it is apparent the shape is entirely unique. The slight tilt of the pendant, when worn, adds another dimension to its subtle allure. All in all, it's a sexy little necklace that can be worn on a daily basis.
