Inspiration
Gina's debut jewellery collection crystalized from a fascination with body modification practices and Live Art, culminating in the creation of jewellery from broken glass fragments. While technically wearable, her glass shard jewellery is not for the faint-hearted, so she sought to alchemise a luxurious collection in precious metal inspired by this conceptual work. She casts shards of glass directly into recycled Sterling Silver, highlighting the contrasts between delicacy and roughness inherent in the original broken panes. The fashion-forward collection is plated in either White Rhodium or Rose Gold. The stones are fair-trade Royal Kings Plain Sapphires®, a rare rich blue sapphire mined in the Australian state of New South Wales. The pavé-set stones follow the fault lines in the broken glass and are set in a stylized way which adds to the pieces' edgy yet sophisticated allure. All of the box chains are 9ct White Gold. Each piece is handmade in Gina's workshop in Hatton Garden, London.
