“My eyes are trained,” says Maria Zureta de-
signer Roberto Costa, explaining that years of
experience with vintage jewelry have taught
him how to find real quality. “Georgian and
Victorian costume jewelry was beautifully
handmade. It has a great weight, and the colors
match throughout the piece.” Quality costume
jewelry made before the 1950s is quite heavy,
Roberto says, so Maria Zureta pieces have a
wonderful mass, and apart from clasps and
jump rings, everything is vintage. “I love being
able to give another chance to an object.”
