From morning coffee to evening cocoa, we spend a day with Boticca’s hottest design talent
In the mornings I like to take things nice and slow! I spend a while checking my Boticca account and looking at the orders and new things that have been uploaded by other designers.
I then make my way to Riddley road market, which is 10 minutes walk from my studio in Dalston. There is a great haberdashery shop there where I get some of my materials from. I also find this shop very inspiring as they have stock from all the way back in the 80’s as well as all the latest fabrics, materials and trimmings.
Then I make my way to the studio to make the jewelry pieces that has been ordered from Boticca over the last few days. I then head to the post office to ship the completed orders to all parts of the world and lastly unwind with a Pilates session!
In the morning I wake up and check my Boticca account to see any new orders coming through and reply to any customer questions that might have come through during the night.
I then travel to my workshop and start work. I fuss over tiny details like how long the zip is, or if I can get any more card pockets into the wallet to make it more practical, without increasing the size.
In the evenings, I visit Bricklane to check out the vintage markets. I photograph people wearing vintage bags for inspiration, and rummage around for more inspiration.
In the morning, the first thing I need is a strong cup of coffee! Then it’s off to my computer to check my Boticca account as well as a quick squizz around Boticca to see what my peers are up to – always very inspiring.
Afternoons are spent working on orders and quick pit stops to pick up supplies. One of my favorite haberdashery stores is Barnett Lawson, tucked just behind Oxford Circus in London. It stocks a plethora of ribbons, tassels, sequins and all sorts of trimmings that I often don’t even realize I need!
My evenings are currently spent putting together my new studio. I’ve just had one built in our garden, which I’m very excited about.
I spend the morning doing all my admin. So answering emails and press enquiries, sorting through my Boticca orders, phoning suppliers etc.
In the afternoons I walk around Battersea Park, which is just by my house, and go to art exhibitions and galleries, which are great sources of inspiration for new designs.
I spend the evening in my studio making hats and meeting with clients for fittings.
