Balingbing is a musical instruments from Kalinga, used mainly as devil chaser. People play this instrument in the ritual as well. It creates sounds like a buzzer. However, all those intangible cultures are vanishing in the village, and to use this instrument as motif is our solution to transmit those cultures to next generation.
Snakebone is traditionally used as charm for protecting yourself from thunder and bad spirits in Cordillera. Old ladies used to wear original snakebone on there head.
This jewelry, combination of bamboo and rattan made balingbing motif and snake bone, was handmade by EDAYA craft man, Mr. Banasan.
