The Story

When I design it's all about keeping it simple and practical. Living in many different countries (Korea, Hong Kong and the UK) has allowed me to try all kinds of different styles, hip hop, punk, hippy, preppy... you name it and I have tried it. However, when I reached the age of 30 and found myself back in the motherland, Korea, I realised fashion that lasts is fashion that is simple. With this simplistic mind, a friend and I started making bags with left over fabrics at home.

Since we were apparel designers we made bags as if we were making clothes. What started off as a gifts to our friends turn into an order made home business which then grew to producing bags in the factories all over Korea. Now my friend has left Dear Rainbow but my brother (a singer song writer who is a well known fashionista in Korea) has joined me as a Creative Director in keeping Dear Rainbow stylish. Our bags have names, Adam, Mark, Joseph, Noah, etc according to its designs. We name them hoping as people wear our bags, they would become part of their lives and be a perfect fit to their owners. The inspirations for design often come when we are at a cafe, watching people. So many of our designs were born from the drawing on the tissue paper : ) Our bags also has message in them, a little surprise for those who find it.Dear Rainbow bags are loved by many celebrities, and have featured in various magazines and TV show in Korea. We hope for the same love by you, wherever you are!
