The Story

I am the designer behind Chic Jewel Couture , my name is Melanie Falvey and I work from my studio in Spain most of the time. I am part British, part Spanish which gives me the chance of finding inspiration in both cultures.
I have been making jewellery since I can remember, it has always been part of my life, no matter what I was doing at the time (I have been a wedding and event designer and decorator, now just from time to time!) .

I am completely self-taught, I must admit it is an expensive way to learn! After many years learning and improving my jewellery making skills, it is really rewarding to see I can now make whatever comes to mind.
I get inspiration from my other passions: history, archaeology, architecture, travels, literature...Each and every piece is lovingly designed and then hand crafted in my studio, in Spain.
My first collection was created using only primitive techniques, I wanted to feel how the first jewellers might have solved difficulties in the making of their first pieces. I thought it was an honest approach, experimenting with very basic tools and techniques.
Archaeology is a huge source of inspiration, I love to create pieces set in various time periods.
I feel there´s something almost magical about jewels- they are born from a story, an inspiration and then after that they become impregnated with all the moments in which you wear them. I just hope my designs can lighten up a dull day for you or accompany you during the happiest moments of your life.
Each and every collection is hand made using the finest materials I find all over the world.
All my pieces have a story behind them, that is what makes them so special.
