The Story

Gris: The French word for “gray”"The universal way of life for a lady who sits in the coåGris: The French word for gray. "The universal way of life for a lady who sits in the corner of a cafe, not in the front row." I have these words written down in my diary. By now I have forgotten where the words came from, but I make my hats especially for this type of women. Designed and produced by Gris Uchiyama.

While working for publishing and advertising agencies, Gris Uchiyama has been studying the art of hat design.
Simultaneously, she has been making custom-made hats for friends and a small group of clients. Gris hats are now officially available at selected boutiques and department stores (ISETAN Shinjyuku, Barneys New York, etc) and her boutique in Japan.
