Claire Naa is the co-founder of Origami Jewellery and the founder of BRAÏ Jewellery (2010), for which she won Paris Capitale de la Création’s “creator of the year 2011” award. Why: BRAI JEWELLERY?
My childhood was a happy one, with time to daydream and appreciate beautiful things.
Last year I experienced one of those rare moments when I had nothing much to do and I began looking at the Braille inscriptions on a box of medicine.
Without being able to read the writing, I fell into a daze looking at the graphic beauty of those dots. Filled with meaning and secret codes, they inspired me to weave them into jewellery pieces. That moment marked the beginning of :BRAÏ Jewellery, a brand close to my heart. For each piece sold, we donate €3 to the Valentin Haüy association for the blind.:BRAÏ Jewellery’s brand ambassadors are the blind singers Amadou & Mariam.
