A Paper Anniversary for William and Kate!

Saloukee Saloukee Saloukee

Can you believe it’s already been a full year since Kate Middleton married Prince William and became the Duchess of Cambridge? Will and Kate reminded us that the first wedding anniversary is celebrated with paper – traditionally, not the most exciting gift. But Boticca’s own Saloukee has a creative take on this tradition that’s sure to be a hit:

“Every wedding anniversary is important, but we think that the first year wedding anniversary is one to be really celebrated. What better way to remember the day than buying that special someone a paper gift in the form of handmade jewelry?”

Saloukee’s delicate paper pieces make perfect gifts. Each modern piece is handmade and guaranteed to make a major statement. Saloukee will even add a personal touch: “We are happy to customize a complementary memento slip with both the couple’s names and the date of their first wedding anniversary.” Whether it’s your first anniversary or you’re just looking for something unique and modern, Saloukee’s statement pieces are just the ticket. Designer Interview – Saloukee

Posted in by

Jewelry doesn’t have to be made from precious materials to be beautiful. Saloukee produces exquisite, delicate accessories using the most ordinary of materials – paper. Saloukee’s designer Sarah Kelly carefully folds laser-cut paper into intricate patterns, securing each with hand-pressed rivets. Kelly’s line features rings and pendants with paper folded into half-circles, as well as dramatic cuff bracelets and necklaces that boast hundreds of careful folds. Designed and produced in the UK, each Saloukee piece is a showstopper. We talk to Sarah Kelly to find out how she produces her line and what inspired her to work with paper.

Who wore it better?

Posted in by

With a limited number of ‘it’ dresses and a multitude of celebrities, it’s inevitable that sometimes, shock horror, celebs will be seen in the same ensemble. Here we take a close look at celebrity style and in particular, these style twins. In a bid to make every look individual, we show you how the help of some unique accessories would win the style war every time.

Kristen Bell Vs. Anna Paquin

Two blonde beauties and two very different ways of wearing this gorgeous Versace frock.

Let’s start with True Blood’s leading lady Anna Paquin. Keeping her look sleek and simple, she is miles away from her frumpy onscreen character and simply stuns with this look. Managing to look polished without being overdone, they only thing we would change are the bracelets. With such a simple dress, her arm candy looks a wee bit messy here. We would have gone for something like Saloukee’s Solitary paper bracelet to really give her that extra fashion punch.

Looking lovely in her black version of the Versace number, Kristen Bell loses the style race with her unsightly tan lines. Something big, bold and funky like Becky Dockree Jewellery’s Magic Eye Necklace would have taken attention away from this tanning mishap.

While admittedly we love her clutch, there is something altogether just too safe about it. The sharp gold and bronze clutch by Kzeniya would really have got those flash bulbs flashing.

So, who wins? It’s Anna all the way for us. What do you think?

Fresh Talent Alert – December 16th

Posted in by

Another week, another influx of amazingly creative and unique independent designers for Boticca.

Saloukee

London based designer Sarah Kelly is the brains behind exciting new design label Saloukee. Having spent several years creating paper models for her metal jewelry creations, Sarah soon realized that the true beauty lay in the delicacy of the paper. Both sourced and made in the UK, Sarah creates this chic collection using a unique self-taught paper folding technique.

Move Officine del cappello

After leaving his hometown of Rome to improve his English in London, designer Massimilano Amicucci found himself working on production for films, theatre and operas. His unique methods soon saw him working for blockbusters such as ‘The English Patient,’ and ‘Gangs of New York’ before setting up his own label last year. Lovingly handmade according to traditional methods, only the finest materials are used with 100% natural felts from rabbit, beaver and hare.

Sabrina Tach

With a father who designed clothing, it could be said that it was inevitable that Sabrina Tach would follow suit and set up her own label. After realizing the high quality of leather available in her hometown of Uruguay, Sabrina lets the materials available dictate her design. Inspired by travel and different cultures, her luxurious pieces can best be described as boho chic.
