Inspiration Break: The Great Gatsby Trailer

Posted in by

Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby doesn’t hit theaters until Christmas Day, but in the office, we’re already going crazy for the trailer. I watch the trailer whenever I need a little bit of inspiration, and though I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve seen it, I still get a bit of a chill every time the famous yellow car barrels down New York City’s streets.

Though some have criticized the use of modern music in the trailer, I think Jay Z, Kanye West and Frank Ocean’s “No Church in the Wild” is the perfect song to capture the era’s hedonism. Jack White’s haunting “Love Is Blindness” closes out the trailer as a reminder that this is a beautiful story, but not a romantic one.

Above all, I’m looking forward to seeing these gorgeous costumes on the big screen. Drop waist flapper dresses have never suited me, so I’m hoping this film will herald the triumphant return of decadent hair accessories. This sparkling headpiece by Maria Zureta is appropriate for the office, right? Just say yes.

Are you looking forward to seeing The Great Gatsby in December?
