At Boticca, we take great pride in our designer curation process, which is a big (if not THE biggest) part of what makes us stand out in the online fashion world.
We’re on a constant style hunt, but sourcing only the very best. We hand-pick the world’s most talented and inspiring independent designers of unique, exquisite fashion accessories – then we conveniently put them all in one place, so they’re even easier for you to discover!
So forget about trawling the web for hours, window-shopping or travelling to far-off places. On Boticca, you’re guaranteed a unique, quality piece that none of your friends, family and co-workers will have. You’ll never suffer from style envy again!
But what makes a Boticca-worthy designer? And how do we ensure every designer produces distinct (and high quality) jewelry, bags and accessories?
To be a Boticca Designer, you have to meet our team’s exacting standards – here are a few key things that we look for:
True Artists
Our designers are not amateurs or hobbyists. They are professional or semi-pro artists from all around the world, looking to expand their brand and gain exposure to a worldwide audience. They have either studied fashion accessory design or metalsmithing at one of the top design schools (like Leila Kashanipour, Keri Washington and Lizzie McQuade), or honed their craft working as an apprentice underneath another talented designer or brand going solo (like Fannie Schiavoni or Negin Baradari). For most, design is not something they do on the side for fun, it’s their passion and their livelihood. And most importantly, they are real people you can interact with and connect with on Boticca.
A Story to Tell
We have learnt that inspiring people make inspiring pieces. So when you purchase a piece on Boticca, it has a story, a meaning. We look for designers from all over the world with unique backgrounds, who are inspired by singular places, shapes, art or people. Whether it’s the Old World travel-inspired Suzie Gallehugh of Suzanna Dai, the unusual architecture-driven designs of Jade Mellor, or the doodles influencing Vanessa Boulton, no designer reads from the same page.
Unique Techniques and Materials
Designers using uncommon techniques or rare materials? We love them! On Boticca you’ll find glass artists such as Sari Glassman, eco-driven designers using reclaimed metal like Julia Failey, or mixed metal specialists like Rachel Dooley of Gemma Redux.
Turning Trends on their Head
At Boticca, we’re fashion obsessed – and have a encyclopedic knowledge of current and emerging trends. But we also believe that individuality is more important than being a slave to ‘what’s hot’. So we seek designers that can interpret a trend in their own unique way – making it edgier, more interesting or daring in the process.
A Love of Quality and Customer Service
We make sure that the pieces made by our designers are of the highest quality and match their descriptions, either by seeing them in person or having samples sent to us. And last but not least, our designers know that the customer is always right – and customer service is of utmost importance in the Boticca community.
