This piece was inspired by the antique armour found in an archaeological grave discovery and a plastic warrior head taken from an actual toy.
In this piece I like the contrast between the modernity of the automated toy and the ancient imagery of the antique armour The eyes light in red when you press on the top of the head. The head is removable in order to change the batteries.
Each bone of the skeletons are hand-made in silver and are jointed with rings so they can move.
This piece is made with a brooch pin, closed with a pin protector in silver.Size: W2,5 × H4,5 × L1 cm After several trips to India, I was really impressed by the omnipresence of death in this culture. This society accepts death like a natural process; it is perceived as part of humanity’s destiny, as a life’s cycle. Destruction, degradation is present everywhere and in every mind in daily life. During my contemplation of cremations, I realised that we are but small things on earth: only bones and ashes.
