Inspiration
The inspiration for all my pleated silk accessories are the patterns and colours that we can observe in nature. Colours are never flat in nature, and have subtle gradations and variations. I grow tree peonies, and these are a particular inspiration for this boa.
Description
This work is made using a technique called Arashi Shibori - which involves wrapping the silk on a pipe and compressing it. There are many stages in the making process, over several days, and each piece is unique in its colouration. It is designed to wear lightly tied, to dress up a simple outfit - which it will immediately make glamorous and exotic. The four layers of silk make it very warm, yet extremely light and feminine. It needs to be stored in its box when not being worn; kept dry at all times, and specialist dry-cleaned.
