This is one of a new range of fabulously complex and structured pieces – made with 6 layers of a mixture of silk and silk metallic organza, and edged so that each pleated layer curls and contorts. The ruffle adds drama to any outfit. Perfect for a wedding or celebration of any sort, it is playful yet powerful, feminine and delicate. As always in my work, the inspiration is the organic and parallel lines that can be seen in natural forms. Although the time required for stitching the edges of each layer is large, the floral results are without doubt worthwhile.
The colours are a pale olive green fading to light lemon yellow at the tips, and with light blue/lilac lines along the pleats. The overstitching is in metallic gold thread and light blue thread. Each end has a small lime green/yellow keishi seed pearl.
As with all my concertina pieces, this ruffle expands and contracts when worn; its elastic character makes it very easy to drape. It must be kept dry at all times, can be specialist dry cleaned, and needs to be stored in its presentation box.
